Make the most of every ……..
I knew a wonderful lady once, who has since passed away. She was my Pastor’s grandmother; a very wise lady with some wonderful proverbs and old sayings from the Caribbean which she would share.
As a young child I was raised to always have respect for your elders and this lady who I grew to appreciate in my adult years, I always had time for. One of the things she would say is “Opportunity is a women with long hair at the front and short hair at the back. Don’t let her pass because if you do she won’t pass again.”
“Opportunity is a women with long hair at the front and short hair at the back. Don’t let her pass because if you do she won’t pass again.”
We would always laugh as younger women listening to her stories and words of encouragement for our lives. But these words comeback to me as a positive reminder every now and then.
Two of my personal drivers , are to do my best and to make the most of my opportunities. I have seen and experienced where an opportunity has come out of situations where I had to take a risk, a leap of faith…Why? Because I did not know what was on the other side. I did not know the full picture. All I knew was that’s where I need to be and I would do all I had to in order to get there. I encountered questions, doubt and obstacles, but I achieved my goal and once there other doors opened up for me.
The worst thing in my mind is to miss an open door, because of ME. Whether it’s because it requires me to step up my game or move out of my comfort zone. Life is like an hour-glass – the sand falls continuously. Whether you’re doing or not doing. So its important to make the most of what you have while you can.

One of my favourite quotes is by Les Brown the motivational speaker.
Live Full, die empty!!
Sometimes it’s not until we get to that difficult place of loosing something essential to us, like our health, that we are forced to re-focus and re-evaluate what we did, what we didn’t do, what we would do differently if we have the chance, etc.
But…opportunity is not just about the unexpected or the unseen way out in the future. NOW is the greatest opportunity we all have. Making the most of what you have right now is the priority. “Carpe Diem! Seize the Day.” Quintus Horatius Flaccus Horace’s Odes Book 1 ( 65 BC – 8 BC)
So my question is, are you making the most of today? Do you value your today? Is it time for change?
Until you value yourself, you won’t value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it.
