What Are You Feeding Your Mind?
At the time of writing this it had been a challenging week, simply because a number of things went wrong. Like most people you seem to cope with one problem here or one mistake there. However, the problem is, like skeletons in a cupboard the disappointments don’t necessarily go away. Instead they just move quietly to your subconscious and accumulate. They sit like ticking time bombs for the opportune moment to arise in order show up and overwhelm your day like a raging storm!
The battle is contending with negative thoughts in your head, the doubts and fears. Words such as ” Why you bothering?”,” what makes you think this is for you?” “It’s not working out is it?” Negativity, fear and those fight or flight reactions that can propel you into an unrelenting panic mode which is acted out through comfort eating, spending impulsively and erratically. Or maybe some other compulsive short-term impulse and last but by all means not least giving up! Its funny how these things can escalate, from what sometimes seem to be no where, but like a dripping tap, the pace increases and things become mentally and emotionally intense during the course of your day. So what do you do? How do you break the negative feeding frenzy in your mind?
An anchor for me is my faith, it is foundational for me, so I pray. It always provides me with the best direction when I feel I am in a storm of indecision and nothing is making clear sense. I was told many years ago that you never make life changing decisions in the midst of turmoil. You first have to get to a place where things are calm again and you find space (for want of a better word) to think clearly.
It was during my prayer time a question came to me. What are you feeding your mind? So I pondered on this…….
If your negative thoughts could be equated to weeds and your mind the environment for both your dreams and weeds to grow. Then it is important to understand that weeds are designed to grow extremely quickly. It’s about getting established as fast and as effectively as possible. So if you don’t give your mind what it needs the weeds or negative words will grow into discouragement, demotivation, even lies and choke your dreams out. As in nature, seeds that are planted purposefully have to strive against weeds, so do your dreams against negative words, doubts and other forms of opposition. Ironically its the challenges that you over come that gives your dream strength, appeal depth and in time a worthy story. Therefore, you need to feed your dreams and deprive the negativity of space and those footholds it is striving for that enable it to get stronger and stronger.
Be wise and proactive in your personal development. Listen to motivational and positive things either books, videos, music, recordings etc. Surround yourself with good friends. Have a Coach or Mentor if you can. Someone who can keep things real and truthful whilst equipping you in progressing yourself and your dream.
Feed your mental environment! Change your negative voice or should I say give it no room or as little room as possible.

Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate; as we voyage along through life. Tis the set of a soul that decides its goal, and not the calm, or the strife.
