Writer’s Corner (3) New Bloggers

New Bloggers

This is a Fortnightly Post on (Monday’s) – These are just tips I have or am picking up. I remember how much of a maze WordPress was for me when I started and I am still learning.

The Blogging World is truly a massive pool filled with a vast amount of information. Yet, I remember when I first started Blogging, just getting to understand WordPress was a huge learning curve for me. There was so much to learn and understand, just to simply customise your page.

During that time seven years ago WordPress provide Blogging 101 and Blogging 201. A community in which you could learn how to customise your blog and add your link in order to get feedback on your theme, layout and changes you made. It was also a great way to build your audience and make connections with other bloggers just like you.

However, times have changed as WordPress has grown, I guess but there are still courses available, but for a small fee. If you are finding everything a little difficult to navigate then maybe this might be an option. Or you can simply search on New bloggers and see what comes up as tips. You will have to look out for when these courses become available as the last one seemed to be around December last year.

In your Dasboard Area in your navigation panel, you will see a section called ‘What’s Hot.’ Where you will see information listed. It is easy to over look these areas, but there you will see the top blogs listed and Word press post amongst other things. Check it out and just explore your dashboard.

Other Ideas to Build Community On Your Blog

  1. Having Themes or a Series of post. – This could be a subject matter you then breakdown into smaller chunks in order to then discuss in a weekly post. You may even decide to make it into a regular long term feature.
  2. If you create a series you may want to create create image to go with it, like I have above. I use Canva but there are other graphic design platforms out there to chose from. I used the free option for Canva for years. But recently upgraded to the pro version, as I have three blogs I write for. But if you are selling products and want to the designs, do ensure you look into licensing regulations regarding image use.
  3. Reviews: You may be a book lover or really into Podcasts. Maybe you love trying out new recipes. Reviews are informative, and they are also a great way to add another dimension to your blog. But as in anything, consistency is essential.

Happy blogging

Blogging Freshman’s – Hi Five!!

F

Well here it is my first post for New Bloggers!!

I clearly remember how I felt when writing my first post.  There was a mixture of excitement and uncertainty.  Being able to publish something I wrote to a global audience was such a new experience.

It was a huge learning curve as there was so much to learn, and still is. So as I journey through the myriads of blogs out there in WordPress I will post a list each month of new bloggers who have created their blogs in the last 12 months or less, and hopefully direct some new friendly traffic their way:-)

Like, Follow and comment as it is always great reading someone’s response.

So today’s list is:-

Hubs

The following blog is WordPress’s and great for Newbies or Seasoned bloggers a like.

Heads Up: Interesting Blogs

Hi everyone,

This is my review of discoveries for ‘Heads Up!’

My five discoveries of blogs I liked for a variety of reasons are listed here each fortnight.  My choices are totally on a personal basis because they resonated with me on some level.  Either they made me think, made me laugh, gave me an idea for a post, or I simply loved their creativity. Some blogs I have come across through my other blog which connects with a different audience to this one.

Posts I feel should be in Blogging Life Line will not be mentioned here.

1. J Regis This blog belongs to a young lady who has been successful at many things but always felt there was a need to write a book. This post reflects some of the challenges she faces as she decides to follow what God says in her life rather than what her situation is saying to her. Interesting for anyone desiring to write their first book based on their own life.

2. PI Photography & Fine Art Melissa takes some truly beautiful photos. A visual feast.

3.  Damyanti   Damyanti has been writing for many years, but I find her posts engaging, hope you do too.

4.  ThePublicBlogger I just like how this guy writes, what can I say:-)

5.  The Retireediary  More beauty for the eyes.  When there are so many amazing places in the world to see – photographs are such a great window, capturing a moment in time, giving you a glimpse of something different.  Michael is retired and based in Hong Kong but he has a great eye for photos.

Hope you find these blogs as interesting as I have. Do let me know?

Until next time, Be the change you want to be!

Hi everyone,

Some will be blogs I have followed for a while or they are new discoveries.  Posts I feel should be in Blogging Life Line will not be mentioned here.

1. Dewittswild  If you love animal photography of big animals, elephants, zebras, lions and South African sunsets then this is an interesting blog to visit.

2.  Madamsabi’s Blog  Is a new find. An inspirational blog using stories and poetry.

3.  Sheek186 an encouraging blog but also tackles things others may choose to avoid or discuss quietly rather than putting it out there.

4.  A Small Act Of Kindness Can Bring A Smile to Million Of Faces  Certainly the longest title I have seen on a blog so far. But full of interesting nuggets of kindness and inspiration. Certainly an interesting read.

5.  Ray Ferrer – Emotion On Canvas  This is one of the very first blogs I followed.  I just love his artwork, which I think speaks for itself.

Hope you find these blogs as interesting as I have. Do let me know?

Until next time, Be the change you want to be!

1. Cancerkillingrecipie  I only found this blog because Oneanna65 found me. Her blog is pretty special. As usual, I like people to make up their own minds, I just point people in the blogs direction. But the title is an indicator and there is much to read on this sight.  Happy reading everyone.

2.  Images+Words From Bluerock  This blog appealed to my creative side, with its many images and photographs. It’s a bit of an Aladdin’s cave:-)

3.  Joshidaniel When I found this blog and this photo all I could say was Wow!!

4.  Maverick Bird Is a beautiful travel blog. Interesting places captured by an interesting lady.

5.  Mommygolightly This post was Freshly Pressed. As a mum I could relate to it and I liked the sense of humour. Go read.

Hope you find these blogs as interesting as I have. Do let me know?

Until next time, Be the change you want to be!
